Imagination Visualization

Jun 30, 2022 | Chronic Pain, Helpful Tips, Visualization

My favorite method of visualization is using my imagination. Many times I use the same image but sometimes I will change it up a little. I would like to take you on my secret journey, but before I do, let me share when I use this visualization. It’s usually when I feel like my body needs a break, to rest or to reset.  It’s especially helpful when I need an escape from seemingly unending pain. Let my imaginary journey begin.

In a comfortable red and blue striped sand chair with an umbrella attached, I sit back, relaxed, wearing a linen blouse and a long, light colorful flower printed skirt, watching the beautiful calm waves of the clear blue/green ocean. The breeze slightly touches my face, it feels refreshing. I can taste the salt on my lips from the ocean’s light spray. The sun rays are the perfect temperature for my light fair skin. ( Wait! My skin could have a glowing golden tan. No, I’ll keep with my fair skin)

Now your turn, close your eyes let your mind imagine a beautiful place where you feel calm and peaceful. Example; the ocean, the mountains, a waterfall, a meadow, or the forest. Once you have chosen your surrounding, allow yourself to feel safe and relaxed.

Next, add to your scene by using your senses; sight, hearing, smell, taste and touch. What do you see, hear, smell, taste or touch?
